This I believe...
I believe that learning & motivation depends on the teacher's attributes and what the student feels he/she will get out of the learning experience. If the student feels comfortable with the teacher & environment and also knows that something of benefit will encompass with the learning experience, that'll help prompt them to persist in being educated.
